We contacted Alyssa to be our birth Doula just about a month or less before the due date for my daughter. Our girl was breech, and we'd been having a terrible time finding support from our OB practice. We changed hospitals and contacted Alyssa. She immediately jumped into action to help us get more comfortable and secure with the birth. We went for a breech birth with a supportive hospital and doctor team. Alyssa was with us every step of the way, from a midnight water break to a 30 hour labor. At the climax of pushing, my wife felt sudden pain, and while the doctors wanted to keep going, Alyssa said there was something wrong and that we should pivot to a C Section. They did, and discovered that my wife was hemorrhaging from a rupture. Luckily, the my wife and daughter both survived and are thriving now. Without her intervention, I am terrified to think of what may have happened. She saved my wife's and my daughter’s lives. Alyssa has continued to be amazing support for us post partum. I am writing this after 3 days of c section postpartum. I cannot stress enough when I say this but just close your eyes and hire Alyssa as your doula. she is on top of the information, has best interest for you, organized and so much knowledgeable in this field. I feel blessed and lucky that I hired her as my doula and if it wasn't for advocating for my health, I wouldn't be able to birth my beautiful baby girl. I honestly wasn’t planning to get a doula but when I was offered the opportunity to afford one as a baby shower gift, I figured why not. I really didn’t have many expectations because I get way too stressed when I read too much into things so I just planned to go with the flow. Alyssa answered all of the questions I didn’t even know I had. You can really tell she has so much knowledge and passion for her patients and their babies. As the pregnancy went along (this was my second labor and delivery) I totally just tuned out my own needs as I was busy with life and work, but Alyssa was still on it, following along with the term of my pregnancy and asking specific and calculated questions to anticipate my needs. She was professional with the doctors, and took initiative being the best bedside advocate to get things done the way I had visioned them while also not stepping on the doctors toes. She is wonderful and I will definitely use her again if u have another baby and for someone as meticulously decisive as I am, I am happy to say I will be recommending Alyssa to my own sisters and all of my friends and family because I know she will take good care of them. -Natale R.

With over 16 years of experience as a parent herself and nurturing countless children as a newborn care specialist, Alyssa brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and joys that come with birthing and raising children. This extensive experience allows her to offer a comprehensive and empathetic approach to pregnancy, birth & newborn care. She earned the title of Certified Labor Doula through DONA International.

Alyssa is dedicated to providing compassionate, knowledgeable, and safety-focused care for families during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Her journey as a labor doula began with training through DONA International—the gold standard in doula education—ensuring she brings evidence-based, client-centered support to every birthing person she serves. She then completed a rigorous certification process, which includes more comprehensive training, adhering to specific professional standards, ethical guidelines, and commitment to ongoing education. Certified Doulas have a wealth of experience, having attended many births with diverse families and situations to allow her to offer tailored support that meets your unique needs and preferences and navigate challenges with confidence. Alyssa's background in psychology, with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix, strengthens her ability to offer emotional support, trauma-informed care, and mental health awareness to new parents navigating the challenges of birth and early parenthood.
Beyond birth work and parental coaching, Alyssa's additional certifications and experiences enhance her ability to create a safe, informed, and prepared environment for families as they welcome a new baby. Her certification as a Newborn Care Specialist puts parents at ease as they know their baby is in the most capable hands during “night nurse” shifts or providing in-home postpartum care. Her Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) certification and Stop the Bleed training, both obtained in 2023, equip her with the skills to respond effectively in emergencies. Alyssa maintains her Infant, Child & Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (last renewed in July 2025), ensuring she's always prepared to handle urgent medical situations. Her role as a volunteer support group leader for Postpartum Support VA as well as her advocacy work with the DC Rape Crisis Center since 2020 reflect a deep commitment to supporting families through all aspects of their journey, including trauma recovery and postpartum mental health. She additionally is Mental Health First Aid certified.
